To avoid open ditches causing problems for the road surface stability especially in places with heavy traffic, such as parking lots or industrial estates, ditches are covered with elements in prefabricated concrete.
Prefab ditch elements are also frequently used for quick evacuation of surface water.
Several standard models are available.
Drainage openings can be fitted to allow infiltration into the ground.
